Waiau Motor Camp, North Canterbury, has family & pet friendly accommodation, motor-home, caravan & camping facilities. Also suitable as a Club or Group venue for activities and local touring.

We are located at Waiau, North Canterbury on the Alpine-Pacific Scenic Highway 70 just 30 minutes from "Hanmer Springs Thermal Resort", 15 minutes to Mt Lyford Ski Field and 1 hour to Kaikoura in the South Island of New Zealand.

Waiau Motor Camp is a family & pet friendly camp  with a range of accommodation which includes double & single bunk rooms, powered sites & non powered sites.

The accommodation consists of 12 rooms that sleep 2 to 4 people with linen provided. There are 3 double bedrooms with an internal door to the adjoining bunk room for family accomodation.. Double bedrooms are all equipped with a couch, fridge and tea & coffee making facilities. The other 9 rooms are single bunk rooms.

Waiau Motor Camp is  wheelchair accessible. We also provide a fully equipped communal kitchen with fridge/freezer, microwave, toaster and all other normal kitchenware. We also have a Dining room & TV lounge, playground, separate toilet and shower facilities, coin operated washing machine and dryer, BBQ,  & dump station. A Zenbu wireless internet zone has recently been added.

Cut lunches and cooked meals are available on request from the local 'Brenda's on Lyndon' dairy/cafe, $17.50 for dinner and desert, $17.50 for morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea. (24 hours notice required).

Pets are welcome by prior arrangement (PARVO  VACCINATION CERTICATE REQUIRED and dogs to kept tied up at all times).

The Waiau river is famous for it's salmon and trout fishing.  The local golf course is situated approximately 5 km from town.  Mt Lyford Ski Field is only 15 minutes drive away from the Motor Camp and has the largest learners ski slopes in New Zealand .  Ice skating and horse trekking are also located at Mt Lyford.  Waiau has the Waiau Lodge Hotel with cafe, Magpie on Montrose B & B, 'Brenda on Lyndon' dairy / tea rooms, outdoor swimming pool, a movie theatre and 2 garages. Waiau provides a friendly safe and relaxing holiday venue which is an easy drive from Christchurch and to the surrounding area's.
